Golf is often hailed as a lifetime sport, emphasizing tradition, respect, and integrity. While skill and technique are crucial, understanding and adhering to proper golf course etiquette is equally important.
Observing these unwritten rules ensures a pleasant experience for everyone involved. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a newcomer to the sport, following these will help you navigate the course with confidence and respect.
Tee times are scheduled to maintain the flow of play. Arrive at the tee box a few minutes early and be ready to tee off on time. Delays can disrupt the schedule for everyone behind you.
Arriving at the golf course well before your tee time is essential. This allows you to check in, warm up, and get ready without rushing. Punctuality shows respect for your playing partners and the course schedule. Vacationing on LBI? Please allow extra travel time to leave the island. Traffic delays can occur from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Dress Appropriately: Proper attire is always required on the golf courses and the practice facilities (putting & chipping green and the driving range).
Avoid wearing jeans, T-shirts, or other casual attire. Dressing appropriately demonstrates respect for the traditions of the game and the venue.
Clothing items NOT appropriate for the golf course include, but are not limited to:
Maintaining a good pace is crucial for a smooth game. Play “ready golf,” meaning you should be prepared to take your shot when it’s your turn.
If you’re struggling on a hole, be mindful of the groups behind you. Please pick up or you could skip ahead if it’s too much for you at your current skill level. If your group falls behind, the Rangers may request that you pick up the pace. We have all seen good golfers play slow and bad golfers play fast. Fast is always welcome at a golf course.
Choose the appropriate tee box for your skill level. Playing from tees that are too advanced can slow down the game and increase frustration. Consult with your group or the course staff if you’re unsure which tees to play from.
Take care of the golf course by repairing divots, ball marks, and raking bunkers. Fixing divots on the fairway and repairing pitch marks on the green ensures the course remains in good condition for the next players.
Always rake the bunker after your shot, leaving it smooth for others. Little kind acts like this will not go unappreciated.
Golf carts are a great way to get around the course, but they can also be dangerous and cause damage if used improperly. You are responsible for damages as a golfer. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart on property. Golf carts are not allowed in the parking lot.
Golf carts should never be driven in a way that endangers other players or golf course staff
Golf carts should never be driven in a way that endangers other players or golf course staff. This means no speeding, no sharp turns, and no driving in the woods or hill sides.
Golfers should always use caution when driving and be sure to follow the posted rules for cart usage.
Golf carts should never be driven on the tee and green areas.
This rule is in place to protect the green and tee areas from damage. Greens are the most delicate and important part of the golf course, and they need to be kept in great condition at all times. We don’t want to see divots or tire tracks on the greens.
Golf carts can easily compact the soil and damage the grass, so it’s important to keep them off these areas.
When on or near the green, golfers should always park their carts on the cart path or parking areas and walk to their golf ball.
Whether it’s a deep puddle or simply a patch of moisture, avoid driving your golf cart over wet turf. Your golf cart may drive right over it without any problems, but there’s always a chance of getting stuck or damaging the turf.
Golfers should always take the safe route and avoid driving their carts over any wet areas. If you can’t avoid it, be sure to drive slowly and carefully.
Cancellations must be made by calling the Pro Shop the day prior or online by 11:30 PM the night before to avoid a no-show penalty of 25% per number reserved.
LBI National will give a percentage of the green’s fees back for un-played holes once the course has either become unplayable, moved to cart path only, harsh weather or extensive lighting delay. Rain checks are not given for discomfort due to light rain, cold, or wind. Same-Day Claim: You must return to the Pro Shop immediately to get your rain check. The rain check credit will be good for 1 year after the date of issue.
Yes! We have several options to choose from. Please notify the golf staff when reserving your tee time. We will make sure the set is saved and ready for use.
We will try to accommodate all requests at the time of booking. All spectators must be pre-approved by the golf staff. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, we cannot guarantee spectators will be allowed due to the amount of play and cart use.
As we would like to accommodate this, all outside food and beverages are restricted. Outside alcohol may possibly forfeit your round.
To play 18 holes at LBI National we have set the pace of play to 4 hours and 22 minutes. This time also allows for 8-10 minutes at the turn for refreshments and restroom breaks. Groups out of position may be asked to move back into position. This will allow for all play during the day to stay on pace.
